Search query builder

Buyers describe symptoms; vendors describe solutions. This builds a content search that finds the first group and excludes the second.

Run on LinkedIn

Keep it under about six terms

LinkedIn does not error when a content search carries too many operators — it returns an empty result set, which reads exactly like “nobody is talking about this.” Three phrases plus three exclusions is a reliable shape. If a search that should match goes silent, remove one exclusion before you rewrite the phrases.

How the operators behave

  • Quotes match an exact phrase — the most useful operator here.
  • OR covers the different ways people phrase the same complaint.
  • NOT removes vendors, which is usually most of the results.
  • Parentheses group clauses so the OR does not swallow the NOT.

Install it, run one search, and save five people. That is the whole first session.
