Prospecting fails for the same reason exercise plans fail: the plan is too big for the worst day of the week. A ninety-minute Friday block does not survive a busy Friday, and after three skipped weeks it is abandoned.
The session
- Two searches. Not ten. The same two most days.
- Triage twenty posts. Save or hide, no third option, no deliberating.
- Three to five saves is a good day. Zero is a fine day.
- Clear anything due. Usually one or two people.
- Stop. The session ends whether or not you feel finished.
Why zero is a fine day
A day with nothing worth saving is information, not failure. If it happens all week your searches are wrong, and that is worth ten minutes to fix.
Ten minutes a day for a year is forty hours of prospecting you would otherwise have done in three panicked weekends.
